Adding a New File

When you are on the files page, click the blue add a new file button. You will then be presented with a screen that has multiple ways to add a new file. You will also be presented with the same options under “define audience” in the side navigation bar.

Uploading a File

Anywhere you click add a file button you will be taken to a screen with several options. One of the most common is to manually upload a file.

Once you click you will be taken to the ‘upload a file’ screen.

  • First select the file that is to be uploaded from your system.
  • Note – Ensure that the file either contains purely a list of 6-digit postal codes or purely a list of 3-digit FSAs. Files containing a combination will be rejected.
  • Select whether the file is to be processed as a customer file or a market file.

Customer File — Processing the file keeps duplicates in order to provide the appropriate rating. In this file, each row represents a single customer.

Market File — Processing the file removes duplicate rows since selecting ‘market file’ allows you to upload entire trade areas of postal codes/FSAs which include every person living in these postal codes/FSAs for analysis.

Once you’ve uploaded your file, click on continue.

  • You then need to assign the file to an existing project, or you can also create a project if one has not been created yet for the file.

Creating a Project

Selecting an Existing Project

  • Next, you need to give your file a name
    • You can change the name and location of files at any time through the files page by clicking on the file name.

NAMING TIP: Avoid naming your file “test” or a generic name like “Calgary”, as there could be many files in a project.

You are provided with an option to add a description of the file, while not mandatory this can be very useful in the future to distinguish files, especially if using multiple versions or the file is being used by multiple users.

  • Click Continue to proceed with the upload.

A summary will appear:

  • The screen will also show you if, and how many postal codes were uploaded successfully, and how many were rejected.
    • It’s common to have a few postal codes rejected, but the system allows you to analyze what postal codes were rejected so that you can troubleshoot your file.
  • To analyze click on the download postal codes with errors button. The system will prompt you to select where you want to download the file on your computer to analyze.

UPLOAD TIP: intelligentVIEW has automated features to remove spaces and characters from your CSV file but can sometimes experience issues loading certain files.

If the postal codes in your file appear to be in the correct format and you are still having trouble, please contact your CSM.

Your file is now available for usage from the files page.
