Product Release 2026.1 – May 2026

Estimated reading: 6 minutes 10 views

The intelligentVIEW 2026.1 release introduces updated core data, redesigned audience reports, refreshed intelligentSEGMENTS profiles, an expanded online Segment Explorer, and an enhanced Numeris Audience Builder.

Together, these updates provide a clearer and more efficient experience for exploring Canadian audiences, building audience hypotheses, validating opportunities, and preparing data-driven audiences for activation.

2026.1 core data update

The intelligentVIEW core data has been updated for the 2026.1 data vintage.

This release includes a full re-projection of the core data used across intelligentVIEW segmentation. Segment assignments have been realigned with the latest available postal codes, providing an updated view of Canadian households, audiences, and markets.

As part of this work, the profiles, names, and descriptions for each intelligentSEGMENT have also been updated to better reflect the new data projection and the characteristics of the postal codes assigned to each segment.

Redesigned audience reports

Reports generated using the 2026.1 data vintage use a substantially redesigned report structure.

Updates and additions have been introduced across the Report Summary, Omnichannel Reach, and most report subcategories. The redesign makes report content easier to find, understand, and use.

Where different types of information were previously combined within a single table, content has been reorganized into clearer sub-tables, modules, and subsections. Additional headings and subheadings provide greater context and make it easier to move through detailed audience insights.

The updated layout is designed to help users identify important findings more quickly while maintaining access to the depth of data available throughout intelligentVIEW reports.

More contextual audience insights

The redesigned reports also introduce more contextual insights across related sections.

Financial characteristics, psychographics, advertising preferences, buying behaviour, consumer sentiment, media habits, and other relevant signals may now appear alongside related audience information throughout a report.

For example, media or advertising characteristics may be surfaced within a broader audience section when they help explain how that audience can be reached or engaged.

This expanded presentation helps users develop a more complete understanding of an audience without having to search through multiple report categories to connect related findings.

Updated intelligentSEGMENTS names and descriptions

The redesigned report structure and expanded data context were also used to support updated intelligentSEGMENTS profiles.

Segment names and descriptions were developed through a standardized, AI-assisted process using segment-level intelligentVIEW report data. Each segment was analyzed relative to the Canada benchmark to identify the demographic, financial, behavioural, lifestyle, media, and consumer characteristics that most clearly distinguish it.

Short and long descriptions have also been reformatted to improve readability within intelligentVIEW. Updates include clearer paragraph breaks, more focused summaries, and presentation improvements that make detailed audience profiles easier to absorb.

Explore intelligentSEGMENTS online

The 2026.1 release also introduces the intelligentSEGMENTS Profile Catalogue, replacing the previous PDF-based process for publishing segment information.

The catalogue provides searchable access to all 94 intelligentSEGMENTS profiles for the current data vintage. Users can browse the complete segment index, search by segment code or keyword, and open a dedicated long-form profile for each audience.

Each profile brings together demographic, household, financial, lifestyle, shopping, dining, leisure, media, advertising, and behavioural characteristics into a structured audience story.

Profiles include a concise segment summary, detailed thematic sections, key audience metrics, and practical marketing implications that can support audience planning, messaging, channel selection, and campaign development.

The catalogue is designed as an audience exploration and research tool for marketers, analysts, agencies, and client teams. It can be used to:

  • Compare audience profiles
  • Discover relevant characteristics and behaviours
  • Generate audience and campaign thought starters
  • Explore potential targeting and messaging opportunities
  • Identify segments that may warrant deeper investigation

Profile characteristics are presented as aggregated tendencies relative to Canadian benchmarks. They are intended to support informed audience planning and should not be interpreted as describing every individual or household within a segment.

Profiles are available as human-readable web pages and in Markdown and structured JSON formats. These formats make the catalogue easier to reference through search, AI assistants, analytical workflows, and other automated tools while preserving the segment code, name, data vintage, publisher, and canonical source information.

The enhanced Segment Explorer adds a new profile-led way to begin working with intelligentSEGMENTS. Once potential audiences have been identified, users can continue the process inside intelligentVIEW by applying their customer, market, geographic, and research data to:

  • Identify the segments represented within an audience
  • Understand audience composition and segment overlap
  • Explore differences and nuances between audience groups
  • Validate audience hypotheses against market data
  • Quantify market opportunities
  • Refine targeting criteria
  • Prepare applicable audiences for activation

Together, the public catalogue and intelligentVIEW support a connected workflow from initial audience exploration and hypothesis development through data-driven validation, audience refinement, planning, and activation.

Enhanced Numeris Audience Builder

The 2026.1 release introduces an updated and enhanced Numeris Audience Builder, providing a cleaner and more efficient way to build audiences from more than 30,000 attributes of Canadian survey data.

The redesigned experience improves usability throughout the audience-building workflow, making it easier to select markets, regions, categories, questions, and responses while developing a target audience.

A key enhancement is the ability to create multiple related audiences from the same starting point.

After saving an audience and using it to generate a report, users can return to the Numeris Audience Builder and continue from their previous selections instead of rebuilding the audience from the beginning.

This allows teams to establish a base audience and then create refined variations by:

  • Changing markets or geographic regions
  • Adding or removing selected attributes
  • Adjusting questions or responses
  • Testing different combinations of audience criteria
  • Creating related audience versions for comparison

Each variation can then be explored through intelligentVIEW reporting to understand how the changes affect audience size, composition, characteristics, media behaviours, and market opportunity.

For example, a user can create an initial audience, review its intelligentVIEW report, return to the preserved Audience Builder selections, adjust one or more criteria, and generate a second version for comparison.

This makes it easier to develop A, B, C, or other audience variations without repeating the full audience-building process each time.

By preserving the user’s audience-building state, the enhanced Numeris Audience Builder reduces repeated setup work and supports a faster, more flexible process for audience exploration, refinement, scenario testing, and reporting.
